Michael Kote

I graduated in the Fall of 2009 from the University of California, Santa Barbara.  With an Art Studio degree and a minor in Education, a logical path might be to teach art, I suppose. But for now my interests have scattered themselves, and they have brought me to this thrilling land of South America.  I have spent most of my life in southern California but also have jumped at every opportunity to see the world.  Like traveling, art has always been an essential part of my life.  As a kid, I spent most of my time drawing and scribbling on everything. From there, I got into painting, graphic design, and sculpture. Along with these pursuits, I have also worked in a Japanese garden, movie theater, delivered pizza (twice), expedited in a fancy restaurant, and sold women’s shoes, all with discerning and artistically inclined eye, I hope. Basically, finding a specific direction has never been my “thing”; indecision is.
I don’t like excuses. BUT. My excuse for traveling the world and studying different peoples, their culture, and environment, is to ultimately find my own direction. I will never know exactly what I want… and if I have a hard time understanding what I can’t see with my own eyes; why not try to see everything?
Thanks for tuning in,
Mikey K.
